Sorry about being a little late, but it is time for the top ten goals in the 2nd week of NHL play!

10. Vladimir Tarasenko: 10/9/13

The play begins with a steal by Patrik Berglund and ends with a beautiful finish by Vladimir Tarasenko. No playing around with the puck from Tarasenko either, just a snipe.

9. Phil Kessel: 10/10/13

Right off the faceoff, James Van Riemsdyk wins a race to a loose puck and throws a no-look-pass to Phil Kessel who buries it past Pekka Rinne. The link to the goal is above.

8. Jokiam Nordstrom: 10/11/13

It is a great sign when you are getting production out of your fourth line. Rookie Jokiam Nordstrom pots his first NHL goal with a beautiful feed from Niklas Hjalmarsson.

7. Sean Monahan: 10/9/13

Sean Monahan looks like he is going to have a promising future with the Calgary Flames. With this goal, Monahan leads a 2-on-1 rush with Sven Baertschi, spins and through a backhand pass, then crashes the net and finishes the play. The is a beautiful, hard-working goal for the rookie.

6. Valtteri Filppula: 10/10/13

Valtteri Filppula was brought into Tampa Bay to be the second line center behind Steven Stamkos and he hasn’t disappointed. Filppula finishes on a pretty back-hand in a dominate performance against the Florida Panthers. The link for the video is above.

5. Tyler Johnson: 10/8/13

We’re sticking in Tampa Bay for number five. Victor Hedman makes this play with the break out of his own zone and his spin-around back-hand pass to Tyler Johnson who proceeds to snipe it top corner.

4. Thomas Vanek: 10/10/13

The moral of this goal: never leave Thomas Vanek alone in front of the net. Vanek, standing all alone, redirects this puck between his legs past Sergei Bobrovsky.

3. Jussi Jokinen: 10/9/13

In route to his second career hat trick, Jussi Jokinen pots a highlight reel goal. Sidney Crosby‘s pass to Jokinen was in his skates but no problem; he was able to kick the puck to his stick without breaking stride and sliding one past Cam Ward on the back-hand.

2. Josh Bailey: 10/8/13

What a beautiful chemestry between Michael Grabner, Frans Nielsen, and Josh Bailey. Absolutely gorgeous passing in tight to the net and a tap in for Bailey.

1. Tomas Hertl: 10/8/13

Are you even surprised? I’m sure everyone has seen the goal by this point, but let me refresh. Tomas Hertl blows past Michael Del Zotto, puts the puck between his legs and goals top shelf on Martin Biron. Not bad for a 19 year old playing his third NHL game.
